In Bruges is well worth watching! Even if you choose not to mention it in public afterwards.

For a fresh approach to choosing what to watch, you might try Jinni (http://www.jinni.com) - we're a new service with search and recommendations powered by the Movie Genome. If you do, feedback is welcome.

I agree Liz. I've lived in Los Angeles, Miami and New York City and Iowa has the best quality of life anywhere. I think this is a local kid who hat put a "show of independence" on YouTube. Thanks for your comment. MB

Seriously, who disses John Wayne? Ashton I get. I almost even get dissing Des Moines (being a CR girl myself). I think he just likes saying "Iowa sucks", and hope someday his vocabulary expands a tad - clearly he's in need of a good Iowa Public School education (his profile claims he's 21, but he's acting like a snot-nosed kid). Having lived in places like Washington DC, the San Francisco Bay Area and Portland OR, I can say that Iowa is not fundamentally different than any of those places. Except that people are nicer, traffic is better, air quality is better, cost of living is lower, etc. People are the same everywhere, needing to eat, work, recreate, have relationships... Life is what you make of it, wherever you happen to be. I just hope the kid in that video someday learns there's a reason we have two eyes, two ears and only one mouth.

I agree Stephen. You are always making editorial decisions with whatever you do with a camera.

I think if you argue that music in videos ruins journalistic objectivity, you are in a way arguing that narrative of any kind does the same. Unless you're willing to set down the camera on a tripod and just let things happen, you are always making subjective decisions about what will be in the video, whether it be with editing, transitions, framing or music selections.

If you didn't hear the lady mention "Cedar Rapids" in the video, you would have sworn she was in the lower 9th Ward of New Orleans.
